Comments on "Phase equilibria in the pseudo-binary systems LiF-CaAlF 5 and LiF-SrAlF 5" [J. Crystal Growth 235 (2002) 596]
Abstract
Different quasi-binary sections, binary sub-systems, and ternary sub-systems of the ternary systems LiF-Me IIF 2-AlF 3 (Me II=Ca, Sr) were reported in a number of recent papers. From these data it is likely, that CaAlF 5 melts incongruently, but SrAlF 5 melts congruently. The present paper confirms the incongruent melting of CaAlF 5 by DTA measurements within the quasi-binary system CaF 2-AlF 3. Chen et al. construct an incorrect "quasi binary" section LiF-CaAlF 5, outgoing from the wrong assumption of congruent melting of CaAlF 5.
