Field Emission Properties of Nanostructured Carbon Sheets and Nanotubes.
Abstract
We compare the field emission (FE) properties of different types of nanostructured carbon films including carbon sheets, single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and spiraled and wavy multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The effects of residual gasses such as oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen on the FE properties of the materials will be examined in detail. We find that oxygen exposure generally degrades the FE properties, while hydrogen and nitrogen do not significantly affect the FE properties.
