Bose-Einstein condensation, atom waveguides and quantum computing with nanokelvin atoms
Abstract
We are developing building blocks for quantum manipulation of ultracold atoms. We have discovered a fast and easy way to make an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate that employs only optical techniques, we have built the first storage ring for neutral atoms, and we have developed a atom + optical cavity QED system for quantum communication and computing. Our recent experimental work will be described.
