Studies on x-ray conversion efficiency in Xe cryogenic targets
Abstract
X-ray conversion efficiency (CE) in Xe cryogenic targets was experimentally studied for planar and hemispherical geometries by using single and double laser pulses. X-ray emission spectra were observed by using a transmission grating spectrometer coupled with a back-illuminated CCD camera. Angular distributions of x-ray emission intensity were monitored by a set of filtered x-ray diodes which were mounted at different angles. The transmission grating had a 50 Å Êm- diameter pinhole aperture which produced 1-D spatially resolved spectra on the CCD camera. Emission spectra from planar Sn targets were also observed by using the same diagnostics and laser pulses above described for comparison with that of solid Xe targets. The emission ratio of Xe/Sn was found to be 0.7 at 13.5 nm. Improvement of CE is discussed with the above experimental results.
