A High-resolution Study of the ^52Cr(p,p_0) and ^52Cr(p,p_1) Reactions
Abstract
Level densities play an important role in several aspects of nuclear physics. The p + ^52Cr reaction has been studied in the energy range E_p=2.12-3.47 MeV with the goal of obtaining improved level density data. Measurements were made with thin targets enriched to 99.74% in ^52Cr and an overall energy resolution of ∼300 eV FWHM. Over 220 resonances have been observed. Resonance parameters have been extracted using a multilevel, multichannel R-matrix formalism. The process of determining resonance parameters will be discussed and illustrated. Present results will be compared to previous resonance studies of these reactions.
