A search for B arrow γ e \overlineν_e
Abstract
We present the results of a search for the radiative leptonic decay B arrow γ e \overlineνe using a sample of (88.85 ± 0.98) × 10^6 B\overlineB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. We report a 90% confidence level upper limit on the branching fraction. This decay mode is related to the theoretically clean purely leptonic decay, but with a larger branching fraction due to the lack of helicity supression. An observation of this decay could be used either to evaluate the B meson pseudoscalar decay constant fB or, with an independent determination of f_B, to test theoretical models of charmless B decays.
