A tentative simple model of QSO.
Abstract
The abnormally large red-shifts from QSOs are due to Coherent Raman Interactions with the relatively dense hydrogen halo (in a magnetic field) surrounding QSOs, and QSOs are NOT at abnormally large distances. We believe that QSOs and Seyfert galaxies are neutron stars surrounded by an accretion ring and lots of planets in the halo. Typically, the planets create a variable magnetic field and feed the accretion ring/QSO system with matter and energy. The Lyman forest is mainly a Lyman alpha line enormously widened by the simultaneous absorption and redshift; its intensity is modulated by variations of redshift due to variations of the field. Electrification of the ring by friction against the halo creates along the disk flat lightnings which emit radiowaves mostly perpendicular to them, as diffracting holes of same sizes. Electrified matter of the ring produces a low, close magnetic field, source of Broad Emission or Absorption Lines (BEL, BAL). Thus, BAL QSOs differ from radio-loud by the direction of observation relative to the accretion disk. Energy lost by the redshift imitates thermal radiation of hot dust. See arXiv:astro-ph/0212285.
