Radio and plasma waves at the outer planets
Abstract
We review recent observations of radio and plasma waves at the outer planets, and especially those from Galileo and Cassini spacecraft at Jupiter. We emphasize a quantitative comparative approach in order to identify the common or contrasting phenomena across the planets and distinguish between fundamental processes (generation, propagation, ...) and anecdotic ones. The situation is complicated by the very different dynamics of the various outer planet magnetospheres. Such questions are addressed as : can we learn more about auroral kilometric radiation by observations of Jovian emissions ? or what specific advances do we expect from Cassini at Saturn ?
