Development of VPH Multiplex Gratings and Application to 3D Spectroscopy
Abstract
We have developed multiplex gratings, which are based on volume-phase holographic (VPH) technology, for the purpose of applying them to tridimensional spectroscopy. We made a 1000 lines/mm grating which diffracts the red spectral region containing Hα, [NII]λλ6548,6583, and [SII]λλ6716,6731, and a 1350 lines/mm one which diffracts the blue region containing Hβ and [OIII]λλ4957,5007. The peak efficiency of each grating is about 80%. We present the results of laboratory experiments on the application of the multiplex grating to tridimensional spectroscopy with a micro-lens array. This method can be useful for the observation of extended emission-line regions around active galactic nuclei.
