Validation of A Basin Scale, Landslide Sediment Yield Model, Llobregat Basin, Spanish Pyrenees
Abstract
The SHETRAN landslide model simulates the erosion and sediment yield caused by shallow landslides in river basins of up to 500 km2. A first validation has been com- pleted for a major landsliding event in the 500-km2 Llobregat basin above La Baells reservoir, eastern Spanish Pyrenees, triggered by three days of rain in November 1982. Allowing for modelling uncertainty, the aim of the application was not to reproduce the observed occurrence of landslides as accurately as possible with one simulation but to bracket the observed pattern with several simulations. Bounds for the landslide simulation were therefore defined by a 50
