Polarisation Analyses of Long Period Magnetic Disturbances Or Pc5 Events At Mid and High Altitude Magnetosphere. A Case Study
Abstract
By using POLAR and INTERBALL -AU magnetic field investigations we have identified the FACs regions 1 and 2 during a conjunction situation on 11 January 1997 from 04:20 - 04:40 UT. Cycles of the polarization reversal of small - scale disturbances have been detected in the poleward portion of region R1 at high and mid altitudes dusk magnetosphere. The cycle periods vary from 4 to 10 minutes. The field rotation cycles identified in the FACs region R1 are related to proton injection structures. The twin- vortex structure, clearly seen around the poleward boundary of region R1 at mid altitudes , suggests either opposite FACs of smaller scales , or a field- line resonance process (high-latitude Pc5 pulsations).
