Milestones In Atmospheric Data Assimilation
Abstract
Atmospheric data assimilation is the analytical process of estimating the evolving state of the atmosphere by combining a set of observations with a model. The technique has benefited from 70 years of research and is still a developing area.
In this poster we review some of the key historical milestones in the subject from the earliest attempts at weather forecasting to the latest global variational schemes.- Publication:
