Dissipative Characteristics of the 86Kr+192Au Reaction at 39 and 55 MeV
Abstract
A preliminary analysis of data on the reaction 86Kr+197Au at Elab=39 and 55 MeV reveals a bombarding-energy invariant scaling of the joint neutron and light charged-particle (LCP) multiplicity distributions, in agreement with a dominantly statistical interpretation of these distributions. The observed invariance sets also useful constraints on models addressing preequilibrium emission in heavy-ion reactions at Fermi energies and above. The characteristics of PLF yields and their correlation with neutrons and LCPs is consistent with a dissipative reaction process. The observed correlation between PLF deflection angle and kinetic-energy loss are characteristic of dissipative orbiting.
