Cosmic Rays from the Knee to the Toe: an Experimenal Review
Abstract
Cosmic rays with energies around and above 1020 eV have been observed in small numbers by several ground based detectors over the past few decades. Many theories or models have been advocated to explain their origin which remains mainly mysterious. Some of these models can already be excluded with the present (although scarce) data, and decisive progress is expected from the next generation experiments. We'll summarize today's experimental knowledge and present what can be expected from the oncoming detectors that should unravel this long lasting puzzle.
