Population densities of hydrogenlike ions in a non-Maxwellian plasma
Abstract
In this paper we examine the effects of non-Maxwellian electron energy distributions on the population densities of excited atomic levels for hydrogenlike ions. We model the electron energy distribution function by two Maxwellian finite elements, one approximating the bulk distribution with temperature Tb and the other the tail distribution with temperature Tt. We present results for various Tb/Tt ratios for Si XIV.
