Ferromagnetic Resonance of Permalloy Films with Patterned Array of Holes
Abstract
Using a four times reduction optical mask, we have patterned several permalloy films with a square array of holes. The film thicknesses range from 7.5 nm to 30 nm and the lattice period from 1 to 3 microns. A reference film without holes was simultaneously deposited with each latticed sample. We find that the FMR spectra of the samples contain multiple satellite lines not found in the reference films. In favorable cases the line spectra show the expected four-fold symmetric behavior of the square hole lattice. Possible origins of these satellites involving the spin wave band structure will be discussed.
