Photoproduction of Σ^+
Abstract
The photoproduction reaction γ p arrow K^0 Σ^+ was measured in the energy range from threshold (1.05 GeV) to 2.4 GeV. Data were taken in Hall B at Jefferson Lab using tagged photons incident on a liquid hydrogen target, with all the outgoing charged particles detected by the CLAS spectrometer. K^0S particles were detected through invariant mass cuts on the detected π^+ π^- decay branch (69%). The reaction was observed in the two major decay channels, Σ^+ arrow p π^0 and Σ^+ arrow n π^+, with 1800 and 1000 events (after background subtraction) identified in these channels respectively. Energy and angular distributions will be presented.
