HEXTE Data Analysis with FTOOLS

We will present the various steps involved in preparing both spectral and temporal data files for subsequent scientific analysis, and the FTOOLS used in each step. This analysis differs significantly from that for the PCA due to the rocking of the HEXTE clusters to provide simultaneous background and source observations, and due to livetime calculations to be made from telemetered data. Ideosyncrasies of the FTOOLS with respect to these file preparation steps will be noted. Results of applying these tools to data on the Crab Nebula/Pulsar will be presented as an example.
