Spectroscopic binary orbits from photoelectric radial velocities. Paper 155: HD 137074 and HD 140282
Abstract
The two stars treated in this paper were in principle on the Clube Selected Areas radial-velocity programme whose results were published in 1986, but owing to their southerly declinations no measurements had then been possible. They were subsequently observed from Chile and discovered to be spectroscopic binaries. Their orbits have now been determined by measurements made mostly at Haute-Provence. Both stars have orbits of moderate eccentricity; the periods are about 2000 days (HD 137074) and 845 days (HD 140282). Very little else is known about the objects, but indirect evidence provided by Tycho suggests that they have spectral types near to K2III and K3III respectively.
