Size-Dependence of Local Structure and Electronic States in Quantum Dots
Abstract
Local structures and electronic states about different atoms in various types of quantum dots have been investigated by using extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) techniques. Changes in bond length between constituent atoms and electronic states are compared for quantum dots with different sizes. These results could provide a useful insight into the mechanism of quantum confinement and modulation of atomic orbitals in the quantum dot systems.
