Universal phase diagram of Si-, Zn-, Mg- and Ni-doped CuGeO 3: spin-Peierls order and antiferromagnetism
Abstract
We have performed magnetic susceptibility measurements on CuGe 1- xSi xO 3 and Cu 1- yM yGeO 3 (with M=Zn, Mg, Ni) single crystals for a large number of concentrations. This study allowed us to determine an universal (T(x, y)) phase diagram with a scaling factor y≈3 x. We have also studied the coexistence of the AF and SP phases in Si-doped CuGeO 3 compounds by neutron diffraction: As the silicon concentration increases, the long-range ordered antiferromagnetic phase over takes the spin-Peierls order, which becomes short-range ordered.
