The INCA project for satellite studies of primary cosmic rays in the energy range 1015 - 1016eV.
Abstract
The basic goal of the project is determination of the nuclear composition and the energy spectrum of primary cosmic radiation within the energy range 1015 - 1016eV (the knee region). To solve this problem, the authors propose, using a detector of a new type, the so called Ionization Neutron Calorimeter (INCA) combined with the Particle Charge Detector (PCD) installed on a satellite or on an orbiting station aimed at long term operation in space orbit.
