Analysis of mass and energy flow rates in an orifice pulse tube refrigerator
Abstract
The relationship among the curves of mass flow rate, temperature and pressure as a function of time in an orifice pulse-tube refrigerator is analyzed to explain the previously measured distortion of mass flow rate and temperature oscillation curves. The mass flow rate and temperature oscillations are described in terms of fundamental oscillations and harmonics, where the frequency of the fundamental oscillation is the same as that of the sinusoidal pressure oscillation. The time-averaged enthalpy flow rate and other energy flow rates are expressed in terms of the amplitude and phase of the fundamental oscillation of the mass flow rate through the orifice.
