Superconducting resin banded coil: a modified convection coefficient
Abstract
This paper deals with a modifying factor of the convection coefficient obtained thanks to the Monte-Carlo method. The aim of this modification is to take into account the thickness of the resin which band a thin coil immersed in liquid helium. This allows to reduce the 3-D thermal study to a 2-D problem because the diffusion in the resin is taken into account thanks to the modifying factor. To calculate this factor, we consider the variation with temperature and the anisotropy of the thermal conductivity and the specific heat of the coil.
