Large Eddy Simulation of Jet Noise
Abstract
A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) capability for the prediction of jet noise will be presented. A sixth-order prefactored compact scheme along with accurate boundary treatments are used to resolve the large scales of the flow relevant to noise generation. The effect of the unresolved scales on the resolved flow is modeled using the Smagorinsky model. The numerical issues involved in this type of calculation will be discussed.
