Radiation effects of helium ions, neutrons, and gamma-rays on photo-stimulated luminescence
Abstract
A photo-stimulated luminescent (PSL) material, BaFBr 0.85I 0.15 : Eu 2+, was irradiated by 1 and 2 MeV He + ions. The radiation effects were compared with that of fission neutrons, 137Cs and 60Co gamma-rays. Deterioration of PSL signals was measured as a function of total fluence for ions and neutrons or dose for gamma-rays. Relative deteriorations for neutrons and gamma-rays were compared with that of 1 MeV He + ion irradiation. A self-generation of PSL signals depending on fluence and storage time was observed.
