Physical approximation of the heat deposition parameters in thick targets bombarded by medium energy protons
Abstract
The experimental data of the spatial component of heat deposition in beryllium, carbon, aluminium, iron, copper, bismuth, and lead targets bombarded by protons in the 0.8-1.2 GeV energy range are analysed. The targets with 0.2 m diameter in the 0.3-0.6 m thick range were used in experiments. The experimental data of the heat deposition density were obtained by ZOMBE calorimeter. A brief description of the facility construction, measurement blocks, principles of calorimetric data taking, and results of calorimetric experiments are presented. Physical approximation of the spatial component parameters are found by using the least-squares method. Dependencies of parameters from radiation length, matter density, inelastic interaction length, and other physical parameters are given for the region of proton release energy.
