Data are as good as our interpretations.
Abstract
The author comments on the debate about the Mars meteorite ALH84001 containing evidence of past Martian life. But as it happens with some debates, critical data may not always be at hand and available data may be subject to different interpretations. The author discusses some of the most relevant questions: carbonate formation temperatures, amino acid and terrestrial carbon contamination, microbiological examination and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
