3-D imaging of multiple objects in turbid media using continuous-wave diffuse photons: simulation and experiment
Abstract
We report a computer simulation and an experimental study of three dimensional (3-D) imaging of multiple objects in a turbid medium. The image reconstruction is obtained from the continuous-wave (CW) diffuse photon flux that emerges from the surface of an interrogated medium. We explore (1) the measurement geometry that optimizes the information content for reconstructing objects throughout the medium, and (2) a discretization method that locally enhances the image resolution. With modest computer precision and achievable accuracy of experimental measurement, we demonstrate the capability to resolve adsorptive objects with a resolution of 0.24 cm in a 6 cm X 6 cm X 6 cm turbid medium.
