Critical current density of Ag-sheathed (Bi,Pb) 2223 tapes produced by various thermo-mechanical treatment patterns
Abstract
Monofilamentary silver-sheathed (Bi,Pb) 2Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O x tapes were fabricated by the oxide-powder-in-tube technique. Various additional rolling and sintering cycles were applied to the tapes. The effects of the thermo-mechanical treatments on the critical current density Jc (77 K, 0 T) have been investigated. It has been found that the combination of rolling with small reduction and frequent sintering brings about well-textured grains and high critical current density. The obtained maximum value of the Jc (77 K, 0 T) was 17 600 A/cm 2.
