Meson Production in proton antiproton annihilations in flight

Two new states f _x(2135) and a ₂(1650) decaying to ηη and π ⁰η, respectively, have been observed in the p¯p→π ⁰ηη annihilation channel at a p¯-beam momentum of 1940 MeV/c. A variety of mesonic final states is prepared for further analysis from a new data set taken in Sep./Oct. 95. Here the final states π ⁺π ^-π ⁰, π ⁺π ^-η, K ⁺K ^-π ⁰, K ⁺K ^-η, f ₁π ⁺π ^- and f ₁π ⁰π ⁰ are presented. The latter were extracted from a π ⁺π ^-π ⁰η and a 4π ⁰η data sample. The f ₁ππ final states have particular relevance for the search of hybrid mesons as predicted by theorists.
