Some aspects of M theory on CalabiYau manifolds
Abstract
The duality between CalabyYau compactifications of M theory to five dimensions and the S_{1} reductions of the sixdimensional N = 1 supergravity with generalized couplings between tensor and vector multiplets is discussed. It is shown that this duality is supported only on a restricted class of CalabiYau threefolds and requires a special type of intersection form. A discussion of perturbative and nonperturbattive fivedimensional BSP states and phase transitions is presented. The discussion of geometrical couplings naturally leads to twelvedimensional interaction terms.
