The New Correlation <pt> - dN/(dy) and the Lateral Spread of Cosmic Ray Cascades
Abstract
A new correlation < p t> - dN/dy results from the analysis of the UA1-Mimi (minimum bias) Collaboration. The last configuration (as in UA5 or Fermilab results) — where < p t> levels off in the mid-multiplicity range — is replaced by a continuous rise versus dN/dy. This behavior has been combined with the p t distribution used by the UA1-Mimi group and inserted in a M.C. transverse momentum generator built by dichotomy. After replacement of the UA5 p t generator in our collision generator inspired by dual parton model, an increase by 10% of the inelasticity is observed in NSD events. The effects on EAS and convolution with "Cronin" effect are discussed.
