Theory of photoinduced charge transfer in two coupled donor-acceptor conjugated polymers
Abstract
In a pair of coupled donor-acceptor conjugated polymer chains, it is possible when an exciton photoexcited on the donor polymer (whose band gap is larger) may decay into a free charge in the donor polymer's valence (conduction) band and a charge of opposite sign in the conduction (valence) band of acceptor polymer. We calculate the corresponding exciton decay rate as a function of the energy gap of the acceptor polymer. We also study the effect of the distance between the two polymers on the charge transfer rate.
