Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) Response to Neutrons and Gamma Rays from Omega
Abstract
To address the issue of neutron and gamma ray induced noise in a CCD-based charged-particle spectrometer, we recently conducted a series of experiments at Omega. Utilizing various shielding configurations, a CCD has been exposed to shots with D-T yields from 10^10- 10^13. Preliminary analysis indicates that proper shielding can substantially reduce neutron and gamma ray induced noise. Details of this work will be presented.
