Measurement of the PT Distribution of b-jets in t overline t Events
Abstract
With the aim of measuring the PT distribution of b-jets in t\overlinet events, we study the CDF top candidate events in the dilepton and lepton+>=3-jets channels. In each sample we select jets which have a high probability of being associated with a b-parton from top decay. We study how the PT distribution of these jets is affected by kinematical cuts, b-tagging bias, background contamination, and parton-jet misassociation. We separately correct both distributions for these effects, and study their compatibility with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Assuming that the two distributions are indeed compatible, we then combine them into a single distribution which we compare with the uc(herwig) Monte Carlo model.
