Single particle spectra from NA44 at CERN
Abstract
NA44, the focusing spectrometer at the CERN SPS measures inclusive single particle spectra and two particle correlations in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions around mid-rapidity. Particle ratios and the inverse slope of transverse mass spectra are measures of the intrinsic dynamics of these collisions. Confirmed by the results from two-particle correlation measurements in NA44, a clear indication of transverse flow is found in the data. The current status of the NA44 data on these ratios and spectra from identifed pions, kaons, protons and deuterons are presented. Comparisons with models yield additional information on the evolution parameters of the collision.
