Electron acceleration in the ion-ion interaction region ahead of a shock front
Abstract
An electron acceleration effect has been detected in the relaxation region of the reflected ion beam ahead of the magnetosonic shock front. Hot electrons leave the acceleration zone across the magnetic field in the form of an electron wave which is a common structural characteristic of shock waves.
