The exclusive muon neutrino reaction, ν μ + 12C → μ - + 12N( gs) , and present and future experiments
Abstract
We calculate the cross section for the reaction, ν μ + 12C → μ - + 12N( gs) , from threshold to 300 MeV for different assumptions concerning the contribution of the pseudoscalar form factor. We also obtain a differential cross section for this reaction for a possible test of whole nucleus CVC at higher momentum transfer. We obtain spectrum averaged results for the neutrino experiment currently in progress at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility for these various assumptions. We also discuss the relative spectrum independence of the these averaged results above the threshold region. Finally, we discuss the relationship of the exclusive process calculated here to the inclusive reaction, ν μ + 12C → μ - + X.
