Testing nucleon-nucleon potentials using deuteron photodisintegration data
Abstract
We use six different nucleon-nucleon potentials to obtain the deuteron and continuum neutron-proton wavefunctions and from them calculate the obserrvables for deuteron photodisinte-gration up to 200 MeV lab photon energy, using the model developed by Jaus, Bofinger and Woolcock. We vary the parameters in the model to obtain the best fit for each of the potentials to a selected set of data for the total, forward, backward and 90° (c.m.) cross sections. The quality of the fit varies greatly between the six potentials. The 1993 version of the Nijmegen potential gives the best fit to the set of data chosen, and is the most satisfactory nucleon-nucleon potential presently available.
