High fluence effects in scintillating plastic fibres by 16 MeV electron irradiation
Abstract
New experimental results on in-situ observations of radiation damage and time-compressed aging studies of organic scintillating fibres generated by 16 MeV electron bombardment are reported. The observed in-situ degradation has for low fluences a nearly linear and for high fluences a logarithmical decay. Typical selfannealing effects can also be characterized by logarithmical behaviours. A total recovery of optical properties for energy doses above 20 Mrad is absent.
