Producing Ar + ions for ion-guide experiments by a corona discharge
Abstract
A tiny corona discharge burning in the thermalization chamber of an ion guide is used for producing Ar + ions. Tested ion currents range from 50 nA to 0.01 pA. The beam does not contain electrons nor negative ions.
