SQUID magnetometer for HTSC studies with 100 Φ0 Hz-1/2 sensitivity continually operating in ±28 mT AC field
Abstract
We have rebuilt our SQUID magnetometer to allow magnetisation measurements in applied DC field range ±100 mT and AC field span up to 56 mT. The compensated non-persistent mode operating superconducting magnet is "invisible" for the detection system—the first order gradiometer. Therefore, the SQUID continually follows the sample magnetisation signal. Real time digital signal processing offers both time and frequency domain signals analysis, including the DC moment and frequency spectrum of the AC susceptibility. The instrument noise corresponds to 100 fWb Hz-1/2 (7.4 pA m2 Hz-1/2) at 10 Hz, the magnetometer temperature range is 4.2 K to 300 K. The sample of the maximum diameter up to 7 mm is top loaded directly from the room temperature.
