Boson Interferometry in RHI collisions (NA44 Collaboration)
Abstract
Recently, relativistic Pb-beams have become available at the CERN SPS accelerator to be used to study high-energy Pb+Pb collisions in the hope of forming a new state of matter where quarks and gluons are deconfined called Quark Matter. The NA44 Collaboration has studied 160 GeV/nucleon Pb+Pb collisions with its focussing spectrometer using the method of boson interferometry with pion and kaon pairs to characterize the space-time geometry in these collisions. Preliminary results of this experiment will be presented.
