Observation of the ωπ^o and ωη final states in the reaction π^- p arrow nπ^+π^- 4γ at 18 GeV/c.
Abstract
Results are presented on a study of resonant structure in ωπ^o and ωη final states produced in π^-p interactions at 18 GeV/c where ω arrow π^+π^-π^o, pi^o arrow 2γ, and η arrow 2γ. Final states such as ωπ^o and ωη containing a vector meson are expected in the extended flux-tube model for the decay of hybrid mesons. For the ωπ^o final state, our data exhibit the well-know b_1(1235) and the ρ_3(1690). A one pion exchange mechanism is clearly seen for the ρ_3(1690). A partial wave analysis of both ωπ^o and ωη is currently in progress.
