Vibrational band excitation in intermediate energy collisions between heavy ions
Abstract
An extended Glauber formalism is developed to describe Coulomb and nuclear excitation in intermediate energy collisions between heavy ions, leading to excited states of vibrational character. The scattering amplitude for the transition from initial and final states is obtained in a non-perturbative form, explicitly accounting for the coupling of the whole vibrational. The effects originating from the energy of the levels are also included.
