Interaction cross-sections and radii of 11C and 12N and effective deformation parameters in light mirror nuclei
Abstract
Interaction radii for 11C and 12N have been determined by the measurement of interaction cross sections at around 730 MeV/nucleon. Effective root-mean-square (RMS) matter and charge radii of nucleon distribution of these nuclei have been deduced using a Glauber-model calculation. Effective deformation parameters of light mirror nuclei ( A=8, 11, 12, and 17) have been deduced using experimentally observed quadrupole moments. The deformation is almost equal between the mirror pair, and the large deformation parameter has been observed for A=8. This suggests that the relatively large quadrupole moment of 8B is not due to the proton-halo but to the large deformation.
