On the magnitude and the temperature dependence of the control voltage in electrooptical modulators in solar magnetographs.
Abstract
Discusses a technique for determining the quarter-wave control voltage and its temperature dependence, using the electrooptical modulator of the STOP telescope magnetograph of the Sayan Observatory as an example. For the modulator based on a deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystal, the voltage is found to depend on temperature as Uλ/4(T) = (1240±4)+(20.4±0.3)T (U in volts and T in °C). Some other problems related to the modulator operation are also discussed.
