Pressure drop during the flow of a Newtonian fluid through a fixed bed of particles
Abstract
A method is presented for the pressure drop calculation during the flow of a Newtonian fluid through granular beds based on an analogy with a fluid pipe flow. Aspects affecting problems of flow around particles are considered simultaneously. The usefulness of this method has been verified experimentally in the flow of both incompressible and compressible fluids through beds of spherical and non-spherical particles.
