Pluto and Charon
Abstract
It is proposed to take images of the Pluto-Charon system using the new f/96 camera of the FOC. This will give the best resolved image of this outermost planet in the solar system, the only one of the outer planets that has not been visited by the Voyager probes. Pluto will subtend approximately 10 pixels across at f/151, while Charon, separated from Pluto by about 30 pixels, will be 5 pixels across. The image will add important new information to the data already obtained with the FOC improving our knowledge ofthe surface features of the two bodies.
